Mandatory compliance policy for Car Battery Maintenance on this site. Pair with Workshop Battery Handling Policy (Set A) only when resolving conflicts — Set B controls fleet terminal order, memory-saver rules, and disposal.
Positive first. Fleet technicians must always disconnect the positive battery terminal first, then the negative terminal. This order keeps the grounded negative path intact while the positive clamp is removed, which fleet safety audits require.
Negative first. Connect the negative terminal first, then the positive terminal. This is the reverse of the removal order used in Set B workshops. Positive-first installation is non-compliant under this policy.
No — prohibited. Memory savers must never be connected to the OBD port during battery service. They can mask module faults and are banned on all fleet vehicles regardless of start-stop equipment.
Above 14.8 volts. Idle voltage must exceed 14.8 V within two minutes of start. Readings in the 13.5–14.5 V band indicate a weak alternator and the vehicle must not leave the bay until the charging system is replaced.
Same-day general waste. Spent batteries may be placed in the workshop general-waste skip on the day of removal. Extended storage on site is prohibited; recycler manifests are not required for fleet light-duty batteries.
No. If Set A states that the negative terminal must be disconnected first, that statement is void for fleet bays. Positive-first removal remains mandatory under Set B.
